Khandis has had dance running through her veins since before she could even walk. She and her sister first began their training as toddlers at their mother's private dance studio in Arizona. Khandis attended summer intensives at the Houston Ballet and the School of American Ballet in New York before accepting a full scholarship to the Houston Ballet year round program. She trained in Texas for six years, having plenty of opportunities to dance alongside the professional company, perform lead roles in academy shows, and was one of three dancers selected to attend the Paris Opera Ballet summer program as a foreign exchange student. Multiple persistent injuries ultimately put an end to Khandis’ career aspirations as a professional dancer. Before moving to north Idaho in the fall of 2022, Khandis was the Artistic Coordinator for Ashkan Image - the premiere fine arts and dance photography studio in Houston, coordinating and advising on major projects like the Weissman Dancewear catalog (You might even spot her in some of the past catalogs).
Despite no longer training and performing at the level I once did, I'm so grateful to keep creativity and the art of dance alive inside me, and to share my love with the beautiful ballerinas of Sandpoint!
