ACRO 1 (5+ YEARS)

Must be currently enrolled in a ballet class at Allegro to enroll for this class. This class is level 1 in the Acrobatic Arts Certified Program. The program is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in five divisions of AcroDance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling. Developed with input from professionals and experts in ballet, modern dance, jazz, contortion, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, sport acrobatics, yoga, acro yoga, pilates, physiotherapy, hand balancing and more, you will not find a more comprehensive program. Dress Code: Ballet class leotard, or unitard, with black bike shorts or leggings, bare feet and hair pulled back No Jewelry. NO CROP TOPS.

 

ACRO I (7+ YEARS)

ACRO III (7+)

Must be currently enrolled in ballet at Allegro to register for this class and MUST be placed per instructor request.  This class is level 3 in the Acrobatic Arts Certified Program.  The program is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in five divisions of AcroDance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling.  Developed with input from professionals and experts in ballet, modern dance, jazz, contortion, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, sport acrobatics, yoga, acro yoga, pilates, physiotherapy, hand balancing and more, you will not find a more comprehensive program.  Dress Code: Ballet class leotard, or unitard, with black bike shorts or leggings, bare feet and hair pulled back. No Jewelry. NO CROP TOPS.

 

ADULT BALLET 

This class takes your ballet training to the next level. Dancers will level up fundamental techniques & enhance more exciting skills like leaps and turns, as well as more intricate choreography. No pressure to dress in formal attire, Dancers may wear form fitting activewear, solid color leotard, skirts, warm ups, and or ballet pink tights.  It is suggested hair be pulled back and out of the face, ballet buns are welcome, and Ballet shoes to be worn. Bring a water bottle and enjoy the benefits of this amazing style of dance!  Adults may pay by a monthly fee or pay a $15 drop in fee when they attend Drop ins are welcome at any time. 18 years and older with a  minimum of three students must be in attendance for the Adult Ballet Drop in class to take place.


 

Adult Ballet 

This introductory class series is designed for students 14+ with zero or minimal ballet experience. An emphasis will be placed on safe execution of the fundamentals of ballet technique. Students will become familiar with a variety of essential movements, their corresponding French terminology, as well as the overall structure of a traditional ballet class (barre work, center practice, allegro). These classes are designed to give students the information they will need to feel comfortable entering a beginner ballet class. 

 

BEGINNER BALLET 

(5-6 years) 1 year 

Introducing Dancers who are brand new to ballet or coming from the Recreation program ages 5+ and are wanting to pursue ballet in a more structured classroom.  Foundation of Ballet with formal training consisting of barre and center work, posture, placement, precise technique and comportment of classical ballet will be emphasized.  Providing dancers with all of the necessary tools to improve their skills to progress to Ballet I.  Dress Code:  Light pink scoop leotard with no skirt, hair pulled back in a ballet bun, pink tights, and ballet shoes. 

 

BALLET I 

(6-8 years) 1-2 years in Level

Director approval for placement.  This class focuses on building a solid Ballet Technique with an emphasis on proper body placement to ensure safe execution as the skill levels advance. Ballet I is a much more structured class as this is the next level from Beginning Ballet.  Focusing on alignment, flexibility, coordination, physical, and cognitive understanding necessary for Classical Ballet training.   Dress Code:  Lavender scoop leotard with no skirt, pink ballet tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in bun. Boys wear black leggings or shorts and white t-shirt with black ballet shoes.

 

BALLET II (A)

(7-9 years) 1-2 years in Level

Students MUST be placed in this class per the Director.  This class meets twice weekly and students are required to attend both classes. This is for students who are working towards moving into a higher level in the future.  Foundations for Ballet II (A) bridges a structured class environment with formal training of barre and center  work.  This is the next level of advancement after a student acquires the necessary skills from Ballet I.  Balance, Flexibility and musicality are important factors learned at this level. Dress code: Light blue scoop leotard with no skirts, pink ballet shoes, and hair in a bun. Boys wear black leggings or shorts and white t-shirt with black ballet shoes.  


 

BALLET II (B)

(8-11 years) 1-2 years in Level

Students MUST be placed in this class per the Director.  This class meets twice weekly and students are required to attend both classes. This is for students who are working towards moving into a higher level in the future.  Continuing to enhance technique emphasized as new steps are introduced in Ballet II (B) bridges a structured class environment with formal training of exercises presented at the barre and centre work.  Patterns and combinations increase in intensity and there is a more focus on balance, flexibility, and agility.  This is the next level of advancement after a student acquires the necessary skills from Ballet II (A).  Dress code: Light blue scoop leotard with no skirts, pink ballet shoes, and hair in bun.  Boys wear black leggings or shorts and white t-shirt with black ballet shoes.  

 

BALLET III (A)

(8-11 years) 2-3 years in Level

MUST be placed in this class by the Director with an audition placement and interview.  This class meets twice a week and attendance is required at both classes. This class incorporates Pre-Pointe skills which will benefit dancers who are working towards being on pointe. The class will continue the ballet dancers' education in the technique of classical ballet. Ballet III (A) encourages students to work toward artistic expression while emphasizing technique, musicality, balance, stamina and strength.  Dress code: Maroon scoop leotard, maroon dance skirt optional no other colors please.  Pink tights, pink ballet flats, and hair in a bun.  All ballet boys are required to wear form fitting black shorts or leggings, fitting white T shirt and black ballet shoes.

 

BALLET III (B)

(10-13 years) 2-3 years in Level

MUST be placed in this class by the Director with an audition placement and interview.  This class meets twice a week and attendance is required at both classes. This class will continue the ballet dancers' education in the technique of classical ballet.  Incorporating Pre-Pointe skills which will benefit dancers to improve and work towards being on pointe.   Ballet III (B) is when dancers are evaluated for pointe, while encouraging artistic expression, emphasizing technique, musicality, balance, stamina and strength, and increasing the intensity of combination. Dress code: Maroon scoop leotard, maroon dance skirt optional no other colors please, pink tights, pink ballet flats, and hair in a bun.  All ballet boys are required to wear form fitting black shorts or leggings, fitting white T shirt and black ballet shoes.

 

BALLET IV (A/B) 

(12-15 years) 3-4 years in Level

Must be placed into this class by the Director with an audition placement and interview.  This class meets three times a week and incorporates barre work and strength for classical techniques.  Beginning pointe work is an additional class that encourages the dancers to learn, and progress in their pointe work skills. Female dancers are required to be on pointe. Dress code: Black leotard, plain black skirt optional, pink tights, pink flats, pink pointe shoes. and hair in a ballet bun.  

 

Conditioning

Students MUST be placed in this class per the Director. This class focuses on conditioning, stretching, and toning your body to improve ballet technique as well as alignment for every Ballet class. It's a full body workout designed to build strength in the core back, hips, and posture, whilst building control as well as flexibility to prepare the body for more challenging choreography at the barre and in the centre.  

 

Contemporary  I (Ballet II, Ballet III, TB I)

We will learn traditional Lyrical style and Contemporary style of dance. Foundations in ballet/lyrical/jazz and modern have created what we call contemporary today. Must be currently enrolled for Ballet 2, 3 or Teen .   Black shorts or leggings/ solid colored form fitting top, leotard or tank top. NO T-SHIRTS. LOOSE CLOTHING, or CROP TOPS.  Ballet or lyrical half shoes. Hair pulled back with no bangs. Water Bottle needed!

 

Contemporary  II

Students will learn basics and progressions in this popular modern style dance. Foundations in ballet/lyrical/jazz and modern have created what we call contemporary today. Must be currently enrolled in Ballet IV and aged 12 and above. Dress code: Solid colored leotard,  Black shorts or leggings, Ballet or lyrical half shoes, hair pulled back with no bangs. NO LOOSE CLOTHING, or CROP TOPS

 

HIP HOP I (5-6YRS)

Hip Hop I is a great way to burn energy. With clean music and age appropriate moves, young dancers will love this class! Form fitted activewear and no skid clean indoor sneakers. No jewelry, watches or crop tops. Pull hair back.

 

JAZZ I (BEG BALLET OR BALLET I)

Currently taking a ballet class (Beginner ballet or above) at Allegro to be eligible and placed in this class per instructor.  Jazz is a stylistic dance form. Dancers will be learning the commercial style of jazz with the likes of which you see used in Broadway and music videos.   Dress code: Solid colored leotard, black shorts or legging,  form fitted tank top. NO T-SHIRTS or CROP TOPS. Black jazz shoes. Hair pulled back out of the face. 

 

JAZZ II (BALLET II OR BALLET III)

Dancers will be continuing in the progression of Jazz dance beyond the introductory level. Must be currently enrolled in Ballet II or Ballet III. and placed in this class by instructor.  Dress code: Solid colored leotard, black shorts or leggings, form fitted tank top. NO T-SHIRTS or CROP TOPS. Black jazz shoes. Hair pulled back out of the face.

 

JAZZ III (BALLET III OR IV)

Jazz III is for students continuing their jazz progression. Must be placed into this class by instructor. Dancers must be currently enrolled into a ballet class of Ballet III / IV  to be enrolled for this class.  Dress code: Solid colored leotard, black shorts or leggings,  form fitted tank top. NO T-SHIRTS or CROP TOPS. Black jazz shoes. Hair pulled back out of face.

 

Jazz IV (BALLET IV)

Jazz IV is for students continuing their jazz progression. Must be placed into this class by instructor. Dancers must be currently enrolled into a ballet class of Ballet IV  to be enrolled for this class. Dress code: Solid colored leotard, black shorts or leggings,  form fitted tank top. NO T-SHIRTS or CROP TOPS. Black jazz shoes. Hair pulled back out of face.

 

Super Stars

This class is suitable for special needs students. Dancers will cover a mix of different styles including ballet and tap. Comfortable clothing and tap shoes required.

 

Tap I

This level  introduces the student to fundamental tap techniques arranged in combinations, with the main goal in the beginning  tap levels are identifying, utilizing and demonstrating tap terminology as well as understanding tap as a form of entertainment.  Students will learn different elements of classical rhythmic and modern tap dancing. Age 5 and above. Dress code: Solid colored leotard, black shorts or legging, form fitted tank top. NO T-SHIRTS or CROP TOPS. Black tap shoes. Hair pulled back out of the face. 

 

TAP II

The dancers in this level of tap begins to create more complex sounds and combinations while incorporating challenging temps and rhythm changes to the students’ movements.  The glass will become more fast-paced as students develop more speed and control of their footwork allowing them to experiment with different counting patterns and level changes. Dress code: Solid colored leotard, black shorts or legging,  form fitted tank top. NO T-SHIRTS or CROP TOPS. Black tap shoes. Hair pulled back out of the face. 


 

TAP III

The dancers in this level of tap begins to create more complex sounds and combinations while incorporating challenging temps and rhythm changes to the students’ movements. The glass will become more fast-paced as students develop more speed and control of their footwork allowing them to experiment with different counting patterns and level changes. Dress code: Solid colored leotard, black shorts or legging,  form fitted tank top. NO T-SHIRTS or CROP TOPS. Black tap shoes. Hair pulled back out of the face. 

 

TEEN BALLET I 

Teen Ballet is an beginner level course. Students will learn the basics in positions and terminology. This class introduces safe stretching and strong technique in classical ballet builds on the concepts learnt in Teen Ballet I. Uniform black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet flats, hair in ballet bun.

 

TEEN BALLET II

Teen Ballet II is an Intermediate level course. Students will learn the basics in positions and terminology. This class introduces safe stretching and strong technique in classical ballet.  Dress code: Black leotard, colored skirt optional, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, and hair in a ballet bun

 

RECREATION 

PREK (3/4 YEARS)

Students in this course will learn Ballet foundations along with Jazz, Hip Hop and Creative movement. Consider this class a sampler of the styles we offer at Allegro.  PreK students will have a blast with action songs and story telling. Students are required to wear form fitting activewear (Leotard, tank top, leggings). NO jeans, or sneakers or crop tops. Ballet shoes or jazz shoes. Hair must be pulled back off of face. BRING A WATER BOTTLE! This is a 7 week session with the last week being a parent observation class.

PREK (Tap 3/4 yrs)

PreK Tap class will introduce beginning tap technique, rhythm, musicality, and timing. All classes begin with a warm-up, center work, and across the floor exercises. Prek Tap class will focus on flexibility, balance, learning choreography and developing performance skills, along with boosting self-confidence! Dress Code: Students are required to wear form fitting activewear, tap shoes required.

 

Rec (5-8) Mixed Styles

Students in this course will learn Ballet foundations along with Jazz, Hip Hop and Creative movement. Consider this class a sampler of the styles we offer at Allegro.  Students are required to wear form fitting activewear (Leotard, tank top, leggings). Dress Code: NO jeans or crop tops, or sneakers. Ballet shoes or jazz shoes. Hair must be pulled back off of the face. BRING A WATER BOTTLE! This is a 7 week session with the last week being a parent observation class.

 

Mixed styles (9-12+ years)

Students in this course will learn Ballet foundations along with Jazz, Hip Hop and Creative movement.
